TCS’ Tough Call – Over 12,000 Employees to Be Let Go Amid Skill Gap Shift

Another major update from the Indian IT industry! Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of the largest IT firms in India, has taken a tough decision that is set to impact over 12,000 employees, or approximately 2% of its workforce. This move comes in response to the changing technological landscape and a growing skill gap within the company. In an exclusive statement to Moneycontrol, TCS CEO K Krithivasan shared insights into this difficult but strategic decision. > "We find that there are roles where redeployment has not been effective." > "It is one of the toughest decisions I have had to take." > "It’s a difficult call we have to take to build a stronger TCS."   What This Means for Employees: Around 12,000 employees will be directly impacted by this headcount reduction. The layoffs are targeted at roles where redeployment and reskilling efforts have not been successful. This reflects a larger shift in the IT industry towards AI, automation, cl...

Labour Ministry Summons TCS – A Ray of Hope?

Today, something finally moved. I came across a news update that could be a turning point for all of us waiting for TCS onboarding: > **"Labour Ministry summons TCS over onboarding delay of 600 lateral hires"**  Meeting set for August 1, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Shramav Jayate Bhawan, New Delhi. >Yes — the Government of India’s Labour Ministry has officially summoned TCS for a discussion, following a formal complaint by the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES)  . Why This Matters: For too long: 1.We received no concrete information from HR 2.Candidates resigned from other jobs trusting the TCS brand 3.No clear timelines were communicated Now, this summons means our collective concerns have reached government levels. It signals someone is listening. What Could Happen Next? 1. TCS may present their delay reasons to the Ministry 2. The Ministry may seek an official timeline for onboarding 3. This might pressure other companies (like Infosys, Wipro) to avoi...

TCS DOJ Delay – What HR Said This Week

This week, I reached out again — like many of you — hoping for some clarity on our long-awaited TCS Date of Joining (DOJ). The response? Still vague. Still no fixed date. Just the same “project is delayed,” “you’ll be informed soon,” “please wait for the next update.” But how long can we wait silently?        What HR Is Telling Candidates This Week? I’ve collected feedback from multiple Telegram and WhatsApp groups where TCS aspirants are actively sharing updates. Here’s a summary of what HR told us this week (July 21–25, 2025): 1. "Project is delayed. Joining will be extended."  Repeated from previous weeks, no clear timeline. 2. "Wait for a new DOJ communication from the iBegin portal." But most candidates can’t even access the portal now. 3. "Your joining will happen in upcoming months."   But no official month is committed. 4. Some candidates asked for joining in October HR replied: “Currently, no fixed DOJ for October either.” 5. No acknowledgmen...

TCS Onboarding Delay: AIITEU Union Demands Justice for 500+ Waiting Employees

Today, I came across a press release by AIITEU (All India IT and ITES Employees’ Union) that truly reflects what many of us have been feeling — frustration, helplessness, and silence from HR. If you’re someone like me who’s been waiting endlessly for your TCS joining, this blog is for you. What's Happening ? TCS had issued offer letters to 500+ experienced and freshers professionals, all expecting to join in July 2025. But till now — no update, no joining date, no HR contact. Many candidates can’t even log in to the IBegin portal anymore. I personally know friends who resigned from their earlier jobs only because they trusted the TCS brand.   AIITEU Finally Speaks Up In their official press note, AIITEU slammed TCS’s onboarding practices and called it out as a breach of trust. And I agree with them 100%. They said: > “Whether the employer-employee relationship is established or not, the magnitude of impact can’t be ignored.” That hit hard. Because it’s true — for us, this ...
